The biotechnology and big health industry of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Zone (BDA) has attracted more than 700 companies including Bayer, Beijing Tide Pharmaceutical Co, and Tongrentang, forming a complete industrial chain covering biomedicine, medical equipment, and the health industry. Its output value has accounted for more than 50 percent of the industry in Beijing for four consecutive years.

The development goals of the biotechnology and big health industry in the BDA are: the joint promotion of industry and innovation to build a global health science chain; the development of the biotechnology and health industry in the BDA and the construction of a Beijing pharmaceutical demonstration base; being part of Beijing’s growth plan of “three science parks and one development area”, namely Zhongguancun Science Park, Huairou Science Park, Future Science Park based in Changping district, and the BDA, and to strengthen BDA’s high-grade, precision and advanced main industrial strategic positioning.

The biotechnology and health industry in the BDA already includes the following sectors: the small molecule chemical tablets sector with representative companies including Bayer, and Beijing Tide Pharmaceutical Co; the biopharmaceutical sector with representative companies including Biotech Pharma, Beijing Zhifei Lvzhu Biopharmaceutical Co, and Beijing Mabworks Biotech Co; the CRO and CDMO sector with representative companies including JOINN Laboratories Inc, and Pharmaron; the traditional Chinese medicine sector with representative companies including Tongrentang Technology, and Tongrentang Health; the medical equipment sector with representative companies including GE Healthcare, and Acotec; the in vitro diagnosis (IVD) sector with representative companies including Anoroad, CapitalBio Technology, and Leadman Biochemistry Co; the medical service sector with representative companies including Beijing Tongren Hospital, Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital of Capital Medical University, and Aiyuhua Hospital for Children and Women; and the public service platform sector with representative projects including Beijing Yizhuang Biomedical Park.
